I am a mom to 5, a wife, and a 5th-grade teacher. There are very few things I do in my life that are just for me. Coming to The Foundation is for me! I have always loved to work out but a few months ago I found myself wanting something new and challenging! I love how supportive everyone is at the Foundation - the coaches and the other people. It’s an amazing place!!
What would you say to the new person who is hesitant about beginning at the Foundation?
Well, joining the Foundation was WAY out of my comfort zone. I had watched Tod come for several months, and I was so intrigued by how much he loved it and how committed he was. But I thought there was no way I could ever do it! I didn’t consider myself strong and the whole idea of CrossFit was so intimidating. But I am always telling my kiddos to get out of their comfort zones and try something new…..I decided to take my own advice!! And I’m so glad I did. Some days I still lack confidence, but on those days I remind myself that I am only competing against myself and I have made lots of progress! Plus when I am doubting myself, the coaches and other classmates are always there encouraging me and lifting me up.
Anything else you can add about how The Foundation that has impacted your life for the better?
We have made so many changes as a family. We have always been busy and active, but now Tod and I have the energy to keep up. We have learned a lot about improving our eating too. This journey has been and is amazing!!!! And it’s also been awesome for our marriage - it’s a great way to spend time together, and it has been a lot of fun!
Tod also wanted to add a few things - 2 summers ago he spent several months in Germany. When he got home, he knew that he needed to make some health changes. And so began his journey at the Foundation. He has loved the coaches and the community. He has loved the challenge and the variety. He loves the fact that one day you are on top of the world by your performance and the next day, you are humbled but what you still need to learn. It’s been a great journey for him.
