When the weather’s great and you’d rather get your kids outside to exercise instead of taking them to the gym or a Bettendorf Crossfit, there are plenty of great playground options in and around the Bettendorf IA area for the entire family to enjoy. Here is our list of 3 great playgrounds for you to bring your kids for some exercise and fun.
Forest Grove Park
4.4 Stars and 17 Reviews on Google
Forest Grove Park is one of the newest park additions to Bettendorf’s Northeast end. Already equipped with wonderful facilities to enjoy outdoor recreation, the park has additional acreage set aside to ensure future park growth. While the area currently only has young trees, you can enjoy some nice shade in the beautiful pavilion. As far as recreation for kids goes, the park is equipped with a basketball court and wonderful kids playground. The playground is perfect for kids ages 3-12, where they can enjoy the swings, merry-go-round, and two play structures. Your family can also enjoy a picnic in one of the covered shelters with tables. And in the interest of convenience, the park has nice, modern, accessible bathrooms. The park can get busy on the weekends, especially if there is a private event or party going on at the shelter. However, you should definitely look into reserving the pavilion to host your own family gathering. It’s a great place to bring the kids and have some fun.
McManus Park (Rocket Park)
4.6 Stars and 99 Reviews on Google
McManus Park, known locally as “Rocket Park” because of its older theme, is a great place to bring kids of all ages to enjoy outdoor activities and even fun educational activities. The park features two playgrounds. One playground is geared towards smaller children, while the other playground is targeted towards bigger kids, such as elementary and teens. The playgrounds are equipped with swings, tennis courts, basketball courts, a field to run around in, and great picnic pavilions. The playground includes educational features, like teaching Braille, information about the solar system, and more. There is also handicap accessible play equipment. And the park is slated to add more special needs improvements, courtesy of the Junior League of the Quad Cities. In order to enjoy the park when it is the least busy, bring your family in the mornings on weekdays, or Sunday and Monday evenings.
Field Sike Park
4 Stars and 25 Reviews on Google
Field Sike Park is one of Bettendorf’s hidden gems. The park features brand new playground equipment that boasts swings, a rock climbing wall, playset, slides, games, and plenty of things to climb. There are both standard swing sets, as well as infant swings. On the outskirts of the playground, your family will enjoy exploring the wooded area near the creek. The walking path takes you down by the creek, and there are even 2 bridges that cross the creek. The park also accommodates joggers and recreational bikers. Stick around to enjoy a picnic meal in the covered table area. This park is definitely one of the smaller ones in Bettendorf, but that doesn’t mean it’s not beautiful and fun for the whole family. It’s the perfect spot to bring the entire family, plan a gathering, or host a small event.
